Empowering Communities Through Education and Sharing
Empowering Indigenous women and their communities through education and sharing.
Our Impact
The Indigenous Women's Fund of Canada supports grassroots initiatives that uplift Indigenous women and their communities. Through targeted funding and partnerships, we help create lasting, meaningful change across the country.
Our Programmes
From cultural education to leadership development, our programmes are designed by and for Indigenous women. We fund initiatives that strengthen identity, build skills, and foster community resilience.
Our Success Stories
In partnership with Mental Health Research Canada, we have supported groundbreaking research into the mental health needs of Indigenous women. These collaborations are creating with lived experience evidence-based pathways to healing and wellness.
This is a fabulous program that is all about lived experience designing research. For IWFC we are empowering Indigenous women to work within Indigenous communities to create the data and framework for "real" systems change.
Indigenous women like Maureen Plante, University of Alberta who works with The Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton on MMIWG through workshops that focus on Indigenous knowledge, facilitator training and approaches with an urban context. And Jill Williams, University of Newfoundland working with the Nunatsiavut Inuit community on a Peer Support Sewing Circle with the women.
